Verrrry Gentle Beginner's Yoga is a gentler than gentle 4 week, 8 class session for ALL AGES that is born from requests by many of you for a MORE gentle, MORE beginner-ish approach to yoga movements and postures.   All are welcome to this combination of gentle beginners and 60+ yoga session.   Modifications are given for those with knee issues, hip issues, back issues, etc.  This course is designed to create an easy entry point for those who desire to learn about yoga but wish for a very gentle approach that honours each person's rhythms and individual needs.

Science is finding there are so many benefits to practicing yoga, from the way it keeps the body supple, strong and balanced, to the peace and calm it brings to the mind, heart and emotions. 

Not only a physical practice, yoga in the complete picture of it offers the individual a doorway to greater self awareness, an ability to self-regulate and skillfully navigate the roller coaster of life.

People come to the practice as much for what it does for their mind as for what it does for their body.

Side effects MAY include: better sleep, more patience, deeper breathing better oxygenation, lower blood pressure, better balance, easing of aches and pains, peace of mind and much more.

In this ten class session you will learn practical techniques for stretching and strengthening the low back and core.  We will cover the anatomy and mechanics behind maintaining a healthy happy spine.   Yoga offers plenty of  tools for  keeping our back pain-free.  Just a little bit of gentle practice can help to bring your back back to health. 

This 5 week session is appropriate for those with minor back pain, discomfort, or tightness or for those who would like to learn how to prevent back pain through proper care.   Not suitable for those in the acute stages of back pain or with recent injuries or flare ups.

I have been offering yoga courses in back care since 2010 after embarking on a journey to heal my own back from a yoga injury in 2007.   Through my travels abroad, studying with various teachers and guides, through my yoga therapy studies and self-guided research and inquiry I have compiled this knowledge to be happily shared with anyone who is interested in the concept of self healing.   I believe that all humans have a tremendous capacity for healing one's self that we can all tap into.   Doctors told me I would just have to live with the back pain I was experiencing or endure surgery.  I am glad that I didn't listen to them and give up or I wouldn't have found myself pain free and strong today.  I am grateful to them for setting me to the challenge.

ABOUT CRYSTAL BOWL YOGA...

 

Therese and I get together and pow wow in her infra-red sauna to plan these special events for you. It is in there that we sweat out all the details and emerge cleansed and renewed.   This will be the 4th offering since we began last year.

 

Come with a prepared list of intentions or be spontaneous and free flowing. We use relaxation, breath and simple yoga postures combined with the support of live crystal bowl sound heal and rebalance ourselves.

Let stillness and clarity be yours, all gifts from within!!

 

No previous yoga experience needed.

 

This is going to be a cozy little event. We will make the room warm and comfy so while we enjoy soaking up the vibrations of the bowls together we can relaaaaax.

We learn about how flexibility works and what the different kind of flexibility are.

Find out about specific tricks to tease out more flexibility in a shorter amount of time and how to maintain that flexibility over the long term.

This 8 class session is great for people who always wanted to try yoga but never got a chance.

60+ yoga is tailored to those with more life experience.  Everyone works at their own pace and there is no pressure to perform.  Instead, we come together in a welcoming environment to see what yoga can give us.  These specially tailored classes are excellent for those with arthritis, osteoporosis, poor circulation, high blood pressure, sleep issues and/or stress.

There will be a lot offered in the way of bone density building and gentle strengthening, movements that are therapeutic for our joint health, stretching, breath and relaxation.  Many modifications are offered to make all parts of the practice accessible and ease-ful. 

Yoga has been found to lower stress levels, help balance blood pressure, lower cholesterol and bring vitality to all our bodies systems.

Our approach is fun, relaxed and friendly.

Learn practical tools to manage feelings of anxiety, overwhelm and stress in the modern world.  Discussions on neuro-science and the relationship between the brain, the nervous system and anxiety.  Course will unfold progressively over the 6 weeks, building on course material as we go.  Incorporating all aspects of yoga practice, from gentle movement to meditation.  Calming breath and relaxation practices will be introduced, along with a variety of techniques for modulating and mastering our thoughts and emotions.  Yoga is an ancient scientific system for living well in modern times.   Finding our way back to ease and peaceful living.  This is a progressive series where each class builds intelligently on the work of previous classes.   Different relevant themes will be presented each week with plenty of review and time to practice and master the techniques given.  Take home with you the same tools that have been used by yogis to soothe heightened emotional states and calm an over-active or anxious mind.
