I am writing this post in pigeon pose because I am supposed to be doing my practice right now. :) Sometimes thoughts come.
I've been thinking about "advanced yoga" and what that is exactly. I believe it is NOT more advanced asana, more poses that twist you up in more elaborate and tangled shapes. Though these can be a fun pastime and are sometimes necessary when your asana practice fails to challenge your breath and your mind any longer.

finding quiet when there is chatter
finding softness in hard places
digging up compassion when there is anger
loving when there is hatred
being present when emotions run high, staying focused when your mind is running a million miles an hour.
advanced yoga is stillness.
advanced yoga is smiling.
